only a couple weeks behind with this post.  truthfully, i haven’t been getting as much reading done as i thought i would this summer, but i’m doing okay.  i guess i have been busier than anticipated, and that’s okay too!  so here is what the bookshelf brought for june:   how to behave in a crowd by camille bordas the good:  in some ways the protagonist reminded me of other characters that i have read about before like eleanor oliphant.  i… Read more »

first of all, we are going to go ahead and ignore the fact that i’ve been MIA for months and just jump back into things!  secondly, i’m going to jam a few months of books into this post, BUT the good (or bad) news is that i haven’t read much so it shouldn’t take that long.  this winter/spring i took the last of my librarianship courses and so i guess i was just distracted by that and didn’t have a… Read more »

i think i mentioned that i plan to read 52 books again this year.  BUT, in order to step up my game a bit, i’ve decided to create a ‘bucket list for books’.  so among the 52 books i will read this year, i will try to check off the things on this list to sort of broaden my reading horizons.  i spent some time browsing and compiling and brainstorming and i came up with the following list:   if… Read more »

the roanoke girls by amy engel. i have been wanting to read this book for a while because i saw it on lots of recommended lists and it certainly didn’t disappoint.  my friend suhaila (who has reaaaalllllly good taste in books) loaned it to me and she was so right in describing it as a page turner!  it’s a mystery for sure, with a bit of darkness and underlying…strangeness…but i really enjoyed it.  it’s about two girls (and their family)… Read more »
