’twas the night before christmas and all through the house…WE WERE CRAFTING!
we arrived in poland on the night of december 23 so when we woke up on christmas eve, we had two things on our minds: get groceries and decorate for CHRISTMAS! although the grocery part was a bit challenging, we were able to find some essentials (that have somehow lasted for three days of CLOSED everything!) but our mission to decorate was SUPER successful! we spent the day crafting like crazy and making our airbnb feel OH-SO-COZY and extra CHRISTMASSY! we also managed a fun walk to the park where we only had to avoid a few TERRIFYING squirrels! then it was early to bed to wait for santa’s visit! and GREAT news, he found us in warsaw!
on christmas morning we woke up to find that our stockings had been filled and that santa had eaten all of the oreos that we had left for him! after we were all ready to go, we were off to the warsaw zoo for our annual christmas day trip!! as we travel around the world, we have discovered that zoos all over the world are open on christmas day, making for an excellent activity for a visiting family with children! here are a few photo highlights from our day:
other things i think you should know about the zoo – the movie “the zookeeper’s wife” was made, based on a true story, about the warsaw zoo and tells the story of how the zookeeper and his wife saved the lives of over 300 people during WWII. it is a really moving story and if you haven’t seen it, i would def recommend it (this coming from someone who typically isn’t even a LITTLE BIT into history). linds and i watched the movie the night before our visit and it made our visit to the zoo even more special.
so that’s that. christmas eve and christmas day success! i am so thankful to be spending it with my family away from family.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
